Hi folks; Weather continues to be a bit breezy, however our fishing once again was quite outstanding. We absolutely wore the Kuechel family out. When we pulled the anchor at 14:oo hours, there was only one person fishing. From 06:00 hours until we left, it was as good as it gets on the 12 to 30 pound Yellowtail and 18 to 30 pound Yellowfin tuna.
A little history on George Kuechel. He started fishing on the boat in 1975 Besides chartering this 6 day trip for his family, he also fishes the 10 day Hi’s trip in October and the 18 day-18 passenger trip in March. Georges career was a citrus grower in Yuma, centering mostly on lemons. George is 87 and in great shape, as he still pulls on 200+ pound Yellowfin tuna. George enjoys doing this trip for his family and close friends.
For the crew it is quite enjoyable as there are only 23 passengers, very few tackle boxes, and a small amount of gear. We all keep busy tying on hooks and casting baits and hooking fish for George’s guest.
