Water temperature: At surface 74.64 f., 5.86 D.O. @ 10’ 72.93 f., 4.14 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.

To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motor boats to active military on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays in October. The lake is closed for weekday fishing. We will remain open on weekends only until mid-December and the first trout plant.

Fall is the time when the larger catfish are more likely to bite. Cut mackerel and chicken liver are the top baits for cats.

The bass bite has been much more active the last couple of weeks. Justin Kennedy of Valley Center caught and released a 7.75# Bass Sunday using a plastic worm on Senior Shoreline. Largemouth bass can be found around structure. They are hitting on crawdads, crank bait, or dark colored plastics.

Crappie are being caught in small numbers in the early morning hours. Gary Radtke of San Marcos weighed in a 2.00 # Crappie on Saturday which he caught on a shad rap in Oakvale Cove. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using live golden shiners or crappie jigs.
