Water temperature: At surface 57.38 f., 7.58 D.O. @ 10’ 57.74 f., 7.48 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motor boats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The lake is closed for weekday fishing. We will remain open on weekends only until Saturday December 12th and the first trout plant.
Opening day of trout season is just two short weeks away. There will be six consecutive weekly plants to start the season, 10,000+ lbs. in December alone. Weather permitting, it promises to be an exceptional start to what could be the best trout season in recent memory.
The bass bite has been solid with mostly small to medium sized bass being reported. Largemouth bass can be found around structure and are hitting on crawdads, crank bait, or dark colored plastics.
Catfish are still being caught around the lake. The larger catfish are more readily caught at this time of the year than any other. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit.
