Despite the late date and warm water temperatures, the California Department of Fish and Game made a trout plant at Loch Lomond yesterday. Ranger Bruce Worden reports the 1000-pound fish plant is the final plant for the year, completing this year's 11,000-pound commitment to Loch Lomond from the DFG. "These are beautiful and lively fish, averaging 12-15 inches each," Worden says. He recommends fishing the deeper parts of the lake, drifting nightcrawlers down around 30 feet for the best success. Worden adds that bass fishing has slowed at the lake, but fishing for bluegill is taking off, especially on the west side of Loch Lomond, near the weeds or grass lines.
