Castaic Lake was never put onto the DFG trout stocking schedule and did not see a trout plant the second week after our first. It was indefinitely a disappointment for some anglers, but other fish starting to bite better helped cure that. The stripers have been taking cut baits and nightcrawlers at a better rate recently and some anglers reporting some good-sized models. Other than the bait bite there still has been some stripers caught on jerk baits, flukes, and spoons/ice jigs. For the bass bite, it has been tough for some, and decent for others. Some reports are that they are hitting smaller jigs and drop shot plastics. Any shad color to crawdad colors have been working best. The catfish has slowed down with not much action lately to report. The bluegill and crappie remain hard to catch but if you are patient enough to wait it out with a wax worm or meal worm targeting heavy brush and cover, you might be able to snag one or two.
