Texas Fish Report

Striper fishing has been the overall hype of the lake lately.  They are mainly being caught on Sardines and lug/blood worms.  Some anglers are managing limits of quality sized fish, when you find a hot spot that’s the ticket.  Some stripers have been pulled out using big trout swimbaits, but our last trout plant was a couple weeks ago, and the trout have spread out and have been thinned out.  It has gotten tougher, but we are awaiting another plant soon.  Some spoons and reaction baits are also working for a few anglers, with some action coming on the troll.  The largemouth and smallmouth bite remains on the slow side but is picking up as spring grows nearer.  They will start to fatten up for the pre-spawn.  Anglers have reported best action using plastic worms on a drop shot or Carolina rig, a good old nightcrawler, and seiko type worms.  Some reaction baits and shad imitation lures have been getting some luck first thing in the morning and later in the evening.  The bluegill and crappie bite remain slow, with best reports coming from down at the lagoon.  The catfish bite is overall slow, with a few accidental catches coming on cut bait soaking for stripers.
