Fun Yellowtail Fishing On Patriot 3/4 Day Trip Today.
Hi Everyone
The Patriot fished Catalina Island and had 6 yellowtail up to 25 pounds and lost another 6 of the bigger yellowtail for only 16 anglers. They also had 68 bonito, 21 barracuda, and 5 calico bass. Sounds like a pretty fun trip. The yellowtail are bigger fish so 20 pound and 25 pound test would be the lightest you would want to go. The Patriot has a standard ?? trip for Tuesday (August 26) and then is running limited load extended ?? day trips for Weds, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday (Labor Day). Limited to 35 anglers at $95. Fishing Catalina Island the extra 2 hours of fishing time at both ends of the day should make for some fun trips.
Offshore there are lots of tuna around including yellowfin tuna, albacore tuna, and even some blue fin tuna as well as yellowtail and Dorado but the weekend boat traffic (small skiffs) made fishing challenging. September should be a really fun month to fish with all of the tuna and the offshore banks coming into play.
