Texas Fish Report

Striper fishing has been the main targets species as of late and most catches have been coming on cut bait for lug/blood worms. Anglers have been having luck down at depths near 60 feet and have been catching from the shoreline and by boat. Some other anglers have reported getting into some stripers on the roll with deep diving jerk baits, smaller Alabama rigs, and spoons. There have also been a few reports of some swimbait fish still being caught, but without having a trout plant in a few weeks it have been tough for most.

The largemouth and smallmouth fishing has picked up in the past week. With warmer temperature the bass are in pre-spawn mode and have been feeding in preparation of the spawn. Anglers have reported most bites coming on soft plastics such as Robo worms and Senko type baits, and the good old nightcrawler. They have also been hitting smaller rigs and some reaction baits being trolled around. The catfish bite remains far with a lot of them coming by accident while soaking a sardine or anchovy for striper. Anglers are having better luck for cats with mackerel and chicken liver. Bluegill and crappie are starting to show up as well with the warmers afternoons, and wax worms/ meal worms have been working best.
