Texas Fish Report

Trout are still being caught mostly in deeper water. Big trout of the week belonged to Cary Kimura of San Diego and weighed 5.60#s.

The bass bite is improving as the water warms up. Mike Hernandez of Valley Center had a productive day on the water Tuesday catching and releasing a 10.30# bass as well as an 8.80# bucket-mouth while fishing in a boat off Senior Shoreline using nightcrawlers. Largemouth Bass can be found around structure and respond well to crawdads, frog poppers, and dark colored plastics.

Crappie are also more active and are being caught on jigs and live Golden Shiners either in tight to shore or by boaters trolling for them.

The first catfish plant of the season is scheduled for May 10th. Hoyt Curtis of Menifee caught a 10.60# catfish in Oakvale Cove using cut mackerel. Catfish can be found throughout the lake and bite well on cut mackerel or chicken liver, as well as dough-bait. WHOPPER CONTEST WINNERS
