Water Level: Low level; private water crafts are currently banned
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a
temporary ban on private water craft and private equipment that could have been
exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment now includes private boats, canoes,
kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that
contact the water.
Trout fishing has been decent with some nice size Rainbows being caught. Willow
Cove has seen the best Trout action and nightcrawlers have been the most consistent
bait. Blas Romero of Escondido weighed in a 5-Trout limit that had a total weight of
16#10. Blas was soaking nightcrawlers and green power bait in Willow Cove.
Other notable Trout catches of the week include: Tong Nguyen's 4#9, Adam
Palecki's 4#4, and Calvin Draper with a 4#3 Rainbow.
Male Bass are starting to move into the shallows. When the water temperature rises
to about 58??F, expect Bass action to explode. Four new Bass-type rental boats are
available for rent at Lake Wohlford. They sport foot-controlled 40# thrust trolling
motors, 2 swivel seats, and a live well. They rent for $50 for all day.
