Another small trout plant this past week perked up both the Largemouth Bass and Striper. Some Largemouth Bass caught closer to shore while chasing the little stocker trout made for good days for all anglers targeting the Largemouth Bass both in the upper and lower lake. Plastics and smaller swim baits seemed to be the weapon of choice for the Bass. Striper action took a huge upswing this past week with many anglers taking some fair sized line sides home with an average of 9 pounds per fish. Many double digits reported and confirmed on the scale at the bait shop with an absolute pig caught topping 32 pounds. Many 10 and 12 pounders also taken with yet another 19 taken by the same lucky fisherman the day before his 32 pounder. Day break seems to be the time to strike on the linesiders. All fish reported and confirmed were caught 30 minutes from the gates opening. The evening bite has also picked up for shore fishermen as well. Largemouth Bass are starting to get up on beds and from what the rumor is have a serious case of lock jaw, but the other Largemouth Bass in slightly deeper water and the ones being caught. Average size has been a steady 2 to 3 pounds with a few in the 5 to 7 range. This past weekends tournament winner produced a killer 31+ pound bag with a 12 pound lunker in the mix only to solidify the win. The lagoon has produce some Largemouth Bass to 7 pounds according to tubers and shore fishermen alike. No cats to report this week and the Pan fish have been slow as well in the Lagoon but a few good size gillies have been taken. Carp on the prowl both in the upper and lower with sightings of 20 plus pounders rolling on the surface.
