Some large striped bass are being caught by Sacramento River anglers, noted Phil Peeples at the Tackle Box in Chico. "The stripers are still biting between Scotty's and Ord Bend", said Peeples. "Best time is late at night, from 9:00 PM and on. Some very large fish from 20 to 35 pounds are being caught on topwaters, and some smaller ones are hitting on cut baits. A good trick is fishing near where there are swallows burrowed into a steep bank or under a bridge. The stripers hang out there waiting for the young swallows to fall into the water. That's where you want to throw your topwater plug."
