We had a beautiful ocean this morning for the Salmon, Bottom fish Crab Tri-fecta as TW calls it. After a few days of really good salmon fishing today was by most standards "SPOTTY". We ended up with 5-Coho salmon and one really nice King salmon. We had another right up to the boat and it got wrapped around a down rigger wire and we lost that one. Otherwise maybe another 4-5 bites and that was the four hour salmon half of the trip.
The bottom fishing went fast and furious with a boat limit of rockfish in about an hour and a half. We then fished for another 90 minutes for Lingcod and could only catch throw backs.
The crabbing was pretty good boating somewhere in the vicinity of 30-male crabs.
The big disappointment of the day was one lady onboard caught a small Halibut (about 10-pounder) in a very unusual spot in shallow water south of Depoe Bay. We got the hook out of the fishes mouth put him on the deck to give him a headache and he was the perfect size to slip right thru the scuppers of the boat. UGHHH!
