Texas Fish Report

Boils have been slower than usual these past few days and less top water action has been seen. First thing in the morning you can catch a few striper schools and bass breaking the surface, and most have been caught off reaction baits or flukes. The striper bite has been steady off cut bait bottom fishing. Sardines, anchovies, and lug worms have been working best around 40-60 feet of water. The largemouth bite has been a little tougher lately, but a lot of decent fish are still being caught off drop-shot and nightcrawlers. Some fish are still being caught off reaction baits and flukes, and some top water action is still happening first thing and later in the evening. Catfish are still being caught, mainly while anglers are soaking cut bait or worms for stripers. They’ve been more active in shallower water recently and can be found in most coves. The bluegill and crappie bite has been decent with more fish being caught at the lower lagoon. The trout have been few and far between, but we expect our first plant of the season around Halloween. If you are able to hook into a trout, it usually is a holdover and of good size.
