Texas Fish Report

Loch Lomond received a 2000-pound infusion of planter trout on Tuesday, courtesy of the California Department of Fish and Game. "These are Shasta-variety rainbows averaging 10-12 inches," says staff member Bruce Worden. Weighing about one-half pound each, nearly 4000 fish were added to the lake's stock. According to Worden, the fishing has been exceptionally good at Loch Lomond lately, even before the fish plant. The trout are hitting on power bait, nightcrawlers, and lures trolled shallow. Lake surface temperature is holding at 61 degrees and the visibility is 22 feet, all ideal conditions for trout fishing. Bass are going on the spawn, though they continue to bite for anglers working the edges of the lake.
