Texas Fish Report

They were catching trout on the east end prior to the rains. Heavy rains tend to leave the water stained for a few days when this happens it is best to use scented baits. There are three trout plants still remaining in the season.

The bass fishing has been excellent the last few weeks leading up to the full moon. Rod Kiar of Escondido caught and released a 10.90# bass Monday throwing a swimbait off the second pier in Boat Dock Cove.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake but are particularly active at either end. Lake Wohlford cats prefer mackerel, shrimp, or chicken liver.

Crappie can be found underneath the crappie float or suspended deep at the west buoy line. Crappie are most often caught using live golden shiners or crappie jigs. The best chances to catch them from shore are pre-dawn or under overcast conditions.
