Bridgeport Fish Report - Aug. 30, 2026

East Walker River

The East is running at about 234 today, the flows have been a little up and down this past week but still fishable. The weather is changing for the better, air temp was in the mid 30's this morning and the highs for most of this week are supposed to be in the low to mid 70's, this will be good for the water temps on the river which will ultimately make the fishing get better and the fish happier. That being said, we haven't really had many reports from down there lately as most anglers have been fishing elsewhere until the water temps come down. Now that that is happening we should start getting some good reports coming in. At this time I wouldn't hesitate to fish the river, I'd probably be trying out some dry/dropper rigs, straight nymphing and in the mornings I might think about drifting some streamers.

Sceirine Ranch

We only had one reports back this week from the ranch and the anglers we got that from struggled with the higher flows down there. When they were fishing the flows wherein the 280 range and it can be difficult when it's that high. It's much lower than that now and will likely be coming down even more so the fishing down there should be getting better as the days roll on.

Hunewill Pond

We had anglers on the pond yesterday and they had a great day, in spite of the weed situation out there. It can be a little tricky to dodge the weeds but if you keep your bugs near the surface and fish the areas that don't have too much weed growth there's lots of fish to be had. Small leeches and soft hackles did the trick yesterday, then when the wind picked up one of the anglers switched to hoppers on the surface and crushed it! Sometimes you never know what those fish are going to want to eat!

We received a couple of complaints about the weeds on the pond this week so I took some time this morning and went out there myself to have a go. There are definitely a lot of weeds in the pond right now, launching my tube was a little difficult as there are some thick matts of weeds up against the North shore, likely from the wind blowing the weeds up there after mowing. Once I got out 20 or 30 feet I noticed it was really too weedy to fish, my plan was to just kick around the pond looking for some water that was somewhat weed free. As I moved towards the West side of the pond I ran into a pretty good clearing and started throwing some casts with a small leech pattern and a soft hackle dropper, first or second cast I got hit, a couple casts later I hooked and landed a nice 16" rainbow. I fished this area for a half hour or so and landed 2 more fish, farmed 3 or 4 and got hit several more times without hooking up. I moved on to see what kind of shape the rest of the pond was in, as I kicked over to the South side it was very weedy, too weedy to really bother fishing then when I got over to the East side I ran into another much larger clear area and in short order was able to catch a couple more 14" to 16" bows and farm several more. All in all I'd say there is about 10 or 15% of the pond that is fishable, I did hook up some weeds now and then but it wasn't that bad in the more clear areas. That being said I would let you know that if you're willing to tolerate these conditions you should be able to have a pretty good time on the pond. I'll try to keep a close eye on the conditions and if it gets bad enough that there are no clear areas to fish I'll let you know.

Bridgeport Reservoir

The Reservoir is still fishing very well, as long as you're up in the inlet channels. Anglers have been reporting 15 to 40 fish to the boat with mice tails, power bait, inflated crawlers and pinched crawlers. Haven't heard anything about trolling, this probably won't get better for another few weeks, as the weather cools the trolling and the shore fishing should get better.

Kirman Lake

We didn't get any reports from Kirman this week, hopefully we'll get some news to share in the upcoming week.

Twin Lakes

The twins fished pretty well this week with a 7lb 10oz brown from the Lower Twin being the biggest fish we hear of this week. Trolling with Rapalas, needlefish and Thomas Bouyants has been good, as well as bait fishing with pinched crawlers, mice tails and night crawlers. Shore anglers are also having some success early and late in the day casting Kastmasters and Thomas Bouyants as well as bait like power bait and mice tails.

West Walker River

We're still getting some pretty good reports from the West, bait anglers are using salmon eggs, power eggs and night crawlers, lure anglers are using Panther Martins, Vibrax lures and mini jigs. Fly anglers are still having success with dry/dropper rigs and drifting attractor nymphs like princes and pheasant tails near the bottom.

Virginia Lakes

The Virginias have also been pretty consistent with lots of good reports coming in both from the shore and from tubes. Fly anglers are stripping and/or trolling small leech patterns and soft hackles, bait anglers are using pinched crawlers, mice tails, inflated crawlers and power bait. Lure anglers have been having some success with Hook Up Baits, Sierra Slammers, and Kastmasters.
