Texas Fish Report

This current heat wave that has given Southern California great weather has also all but killed off the striper fishing. Striper fishing is slow all over the lake from what many fishermen are reporting. With the temperature being warmer, mixed in with the water level dropping, striper have been deep and not too many are seeing them. Some are finding them trolling deep with swimbaits and rattle traps, while others are picking up a few bait fishing anchovies and chicken liver deep near the dam and the inlet. Trout fishing on the other hand was the main attraction this past week as most fishermen going for trout caught trout. They are still hitting best near Ramp # 2 off of Powerbait and worms, however a 7 pound hold over trout was caught up in the East End. Bass and bluegill fishing improved as the water warmed up, but they too were still a slow bite due to the water drop. Catfish are still hitting for those who like to hunt down the cats, mackerel or chicken liver in deeper waters along the South Shore is going to be your best bet. So here is to cooler weather and the return of the striper bite, good luck out there.
