Texas Fish Report

The Department of Fish and Game has stocked the west ramp of the upper lake with 2700 lbs. of rainbow trout. Still not very much striper action even with such a big trout plant. The stripers are hanging out in deeper water all over the lake. In the fish arm, you can locate fish around 60 feet off the points. In the ski arm they are a little deeper between 90 and 130 feet. The early morning bite is definitely the best for the stripers, as the day wears on the chances for running into hungry stripers gets slim. For most anglers, locating the fish isn't the problem in getting them to bite. Before the bite shut down, sardines and blood worms were the bait of choice. For the largies, not much has changed. The largie fishing around the Marina has picked up a little bit. It's still a little difficult to get them to bite out on the lake, but they are hanging around the points and the shore line's deeper in the coves. At the lower lagoon, the largies are still doing pretty good on some swim baits and shad lures early in the morning. The late evening bite hasn't been as good as it was.
