Lake Almanor Fishing Report

Anglers who own Alaska-grade thermal underwear can find some decent winter fishing action at Lake Almanor, according to Doug Neal at Almanor Fishing Adventures. Neal reported that water clarity required use of a Seps 04 Dodger with UV flash film. Running threaded crawlers at about 12 feet, Neal got a good number of small browns under 18 inches.
Bank anglers in the Geritol Cove area at Canyon Dam found some success on nice rainbows, using nightcrawlers under a bobber or floated off the bottom.
Surface water temperatures are 34 degrees, roads are dry, and a couple of launch ramps are operational. Early morning fog burns off around 9:30 AM.
Doug Neal will be conducting two seminars on fishing at Lake Almanor at the ISE Show in Sacramento this week.
