We are closed for duck hunting on Wednesdays all day and Sundays until 10 am. Through the month of January, junior waterfowl hunt is Saturday, February 5 and we will open for fishing that day at 10 am. We received a load of DFG rainbows this past week and fishing has been excellent.
Notable Catches: Danny Verissimo of Thousand Oaks limited out with a 7.2 total weight limit. The largest was 2.8 lbs. He was fishing So. or the T dock using inflated nightcrawlers. Hunter Meyers of La Mesa took a 3.8 trout using power bait. Ikaika Butler of San Diego who is 8 years old took home a 2.4 lb trout using power bait and crawlers on the Island. ohnny Downey, 6 years old from Fallbrook caught 2 trout the largest was 2 lbs. He was trolling deep using a Rapala. Many other limits and the weather should be a big factor in continuing the trend. The duck hunters have been doing very well. Jerry Weston took home 6 nice fat Mallards this week.
Don't forget the free fishing class starts at 10:00 am at the Launch Ramp. Let the ranger know that you want to attend. Decontamination washdown is required for all private vessels and motors before a launch. Float tubes and waders must be washed down before using the lake. There is a fee for the wash down. For further information or to make reservations for camping, condos or cabins, please call 877-581-9904.
