Lake Wohlford produces a 10 lb 2 oz Rainbow Trout

With the trout becoming scarcer Aleksandar Terzic's 10.20# rainbow might prove hard to beat. Terzic's fish was caught in Oakvle cove on a nightcrawler/green powerbait combination dipped in garlic. Warming water temperatures have pushed the trout into the deeper areas of the lake. For better results travel westward toward the buoys. The best baits have been powerbait and/or powerworms, greens or yellows are the most popular colors, or inflated nightcrawlers.

Good numbers of bass in a range of sizes are being caught with increasing regularity. Sam Zepeda caught and released a 5.65# bass on a plastic jig on Senior Shoreline. Bass are most often found near structure and are fond of crawdads and dark colored plastics.

Crappie are being caught primarily in the early mornings. Wendell Jackson of Escondido weighed in a 1.90# Crappie he caught in Boat Dock Cove on a live golden shiner. Crappie are most frequently caught using small jigs or live golden shiners.

Catfish are becoming easier to find on either end of the lake. John Hern weighed in an 8.85# blue catfish on Sunday that he landed near the South Shore Rock Pile on a shiner. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver.
