Anglers, do not pack up your WSB gear just yet... Over the past few day's the channel islands has been putting out some big numbers of seabass, with several trophy halibut in the mix too!
Pacific Eagle loaded up yesterday... they had a private charter with 15 anglers in search of seabass and halibut. Mike Mings took the group out to Santa Rosa and caught 24 white seabass and 6 halibut up to 57lbs! After everyone had caught one or two gamefish, they fished for rockfish bringing in some quality reds and chucks. Great trip for an excellent long time charter group!
Island Spirit has also had great fishing as of late... for red snapper, lingcod and other tasty bottom fish along the ventura coast. Saturday they had a charter group with 100% rental rods and almost all first time anglers. They had no problem catching limits of rockfish plus a few other species like lingcod, whitefish and calico bass.
Still waiting for Sunday's counts... but Island Spirit has called in reporting they had a great day surface fishing for barracuda and spanish jack! Stay tuned for a final report and update from Pacific Eagle too..
