Capt. James and The GRANDE returned this morning with 40 Bluefin Tuna to 70lbs!!!! The fishing was by no means easy yesterday, Big fish and light line don't mix well. They were looking at a mixed grade of 40-70lb tuna with 100+lbers jumping off in the distance. These fish seemed to respond well and wanted to bite however the anglers were not prepared with heavy line and rigs to battle these monsters.
MISSION BELLE 3/4 day trip fishing the Coronado Islands had a bang up day yesterday with 24 anglers cathing 24 Yellowtail, 3 Barracuda, 29 sculpin, 38 rockfish, 1 lingcod and 17 sheephead. These Yellowtail are big and mean ranging from 10-30lbs and have been caught on Fly-lined sardines, Yo-Yo jigs and surface irons. Timing and bait placement are key. The POINT LOMA has an ultra limited load fishing offshore for Yellowtail and Dorado. They caught 24 Yellowtail and 5 Dorado on their last trip.
*If your trip fishes in Mexico, Inshore or Offshore, PHOTO I.D. REQUIRED for all passengers of all ages*
*BLUEFIN TACKLE ADVICE*
Minimum of 40lb-60lb test line on at least one rig is highly, highly advised. 2/0-4/0 hooks and fluorocarbon leaders also work wonders on these not so gentle giants. 2 speed reels, heavy rods and proper line capacity will all help you land the fish of a lifetime.
