Today we hit a series of kelp paddies that produced a number of quality yellowtail and a handful of dorado. After the ssllooww albacore fishing of yesterday, it was a welcome sight to see smiles on everyones faces. The weather kicked up just a little bit, but by going downswell most of the day, we didn't notice it.
post script--I have been noticeing more and more of the small Accurate two-speed reels, and what I have seen is that they are really nice. Put that slick, artistic anodizing on them and you have a reel that eventually your grandkids will own. So far the 870 model is the one which has been putting the hurt on those big yellows down south at Cedros, but I am sure in the near future that it will really shine, once we start going to Guadalupe.

8-5-2007After showing that improved sign for us last night on the way out, today the bite just shut-down. We saw plenty of fish, jumpers, on the machines, but they were playing the same game they have been all year and just not biting.
