Dock closes: 7:00 P.M.
Last Plant: 3,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Thursday July 3rd.
Next Plant: 1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish t Thursday July 31st.
Water temperature: At surface 83.48 f., 7.11 D.O. @ 25' 82.94 f., 4.97 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The grand prize for the catfish derby went to Ron Horner for his 9#11 oz fish caught using a crawdad on the far end of the southern shore. First place finishes went out to Charlie Daniel, Chris Gentz, and Brett Posiadek in the adult, military, and youth divisions respectively. Second place belonged to Joe Casteel, Nate Quillin, and Patrick Saysanasongkham. Third place Peter Vitkus, Anthony North, and Van McAnally. Congratulations to all our prize winners and a thank you to all who came out and participated. Lake Wohlford cats respond well to cut mackerel or chicken liver
Crappie continue to be caught amongst the rocky outcroppings in the early morning hours. Crappie prefer the cover of rocks or submerged willows and are most often caught using finger jigs or live golden shiners.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
