Free Fishing Day in the State of California September 2nd, 2017. Park Permit still required. The water temperature is 76-77 degrees. Striper: Slow Action: Stripers have slowed down this past week due to the heat. A few anglers have still caught a few over by the dam, using mackerels and shad. Blue Gill: Slow Action: The bait of choice would be red worm, meal worms and of course wax worms. Catfish: Still plenty of Catfish still to be caught hitting on chicken livers, mackerels, and anchovies over in near Launch Ramp 2 and Catfish Alley. Large Mouth: Medium Action: Try catching them on purple and green robo worms, meal worms, wax worms and night crawlers over by the North Shore and the middle of the lake. Trout: No Action. Carp: Medium Action: Always a fun way to learn how to fish!
