The Crappie and Bluegill bite is heating up on the upper lake of castaic lake right now. Various coves in the fish arm such as dry gulch and firebreak have seen lots of action throughout the day. If fishing these areas, look for any underwater structures to work your bait around. Small crappie jigs and mealworms have been working well at a depth of 30-40 feet. The Largemouth and Smallmouth bite is still doing well in the early morning between 5:45 am and 11:00 am. Plastics and natural worms should be used for the best results from either species. Hot spots for the bass include ss ski, hawks nest, dry gulch, and elizabeth canyon. Fish for the bass at a depth of 10-30 feet down. The striper bite has been doing well on anchovies and sardines. The fresher the bait, the better the bite. Hot spots include necktie canyon, the buoy line, and c point.
