Stripers have been boiling off and on this past week. The crowds have been less and less lately, which has been good for fishing. Most catches on the boils have been on top water baits and reaction lures. Many anglers have been down-sizing their lures and have been having success. Anglers are still producing some stripers on cut bait as well down deep, mainly on sardines, anchovies, and lug worms. The largemouth and smallmouth have been boiling first thing in the morning and later in the evening, with smaller sized baits doing the trick. The bait the fish are feeding on are small, so anglers have been matching the hatch and it’s been doing the trick. During the day, shad colored plastics on the dropshot and Ned rig have been working. The catfish bite has also picked up, with people reporting catches coming off stink baits and garlic nightcrawlers. The bluegill and crappie bite still has been doing good and some anglers have been able to produce limits as of late. The trout are still prevalent but are getting tougher to catch. Most trout have been caught on garlic or bright colored Power-baits and nightcrawlers.
