Windy greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: The cold along with snow on Monday put a damper on the fishing for a few days. The trout bite picked up on Friday. Success has been with the old faithful Nightcrawlers/power bait combo. Water temperature is approximately 45 degrees.
WINTER HOURS ARE: DECEMBER 1 THROUGH FEBRUARY 28TH.
Monday - Friday 8 AM-4:00 PM Saturday-Sunday 6 AM - 4:30 PM
Trout Bait : 12-16" leader, inflated nighhtcrawler with scent. Or Power Bait fished off the bottom.
Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, Dike, Chambers Park. Trolling all over the Lake.
Notable: Hector Flores from Lemon Grove got a 3 1/2 pound Rainbow with Power Bait, West Shore. Several 3 hour limits, inspite of the wind.
Don't Forget: Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10 AM. Ranger Charley will teach cold water tactics.
DFG delivered some nice, sizable Rainbows on Monday. Jess Ranch will be planting 1,200 pounds of trout this upcoming week.
THE DECONTAMINATION WASH DOWN IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PRIVATE VESSELS BEFORE LAUNCH. A fee is charged. (boats, motors, float tubes, waders) More info under boat wash down.
