Texas Fish Report

Trout fishing has been slow the past few weeks with the last trout plant being over a
month ago. Some anglers have managed to snag a few out on the lake in all different
areas and most have been off smaller trout lures and nightcrawlers.

Overall, the Largemouth fishing has been decent and there has been reports of good quality and numbers. The reaction bite has been good first thing in the morning and later around 3 pm it picks back up. Reaction baits and top waters have been seeing some action, with the good old drop-shot accounting for most catches. Shad and green pumpkincolored worms have been the best lately.

Striper fishing has remained steady with a lot of little fish being caught off the bottom. Some bigger fish are coming around every now and then and end up on the end of an angler’s line. Sardines, anchovies, nightcrawlers, and lug worms all have been working. Just recently the stripers have been boiling and chasing shad out on the main portion of the lake. Nothing big to speak of yet but is a good sign for some bigger boils to come.

The catfish has picked up with the warmer temperatures lately, and all types of cut bait and worms have been working. The bluegill and crappie action has picked up a little and we have been seeing more of these species being caught. Most of these species are coming from the lower lagoon.
