Texas Fish Report

There were no signs of boils this last week. Stripers are still biting but a little deeper, off cut bait and lug worms. Some anglers are having luck off umbrella rigs on the troll and deeper diving jerk baits or lead heads used off main points.

We received our first trout stocking of the season, and it was a sizeable number of trout. Two DFW trucks to be exact. Some of these Trout are pushing 2 + pounds, and have still been biting off Power-bait, tubes, and small trout jigs. It has slowed down since the plant was on 10/21/2022, but anglers are still managing to catch a couple.

The Largemouth bass bite has transitioned from on the surface to a little deeper down in the water column. They are still feeding heavily on shad but just at a different depth. Jerk baits, flukes, and cranks have been seeing good action. The good old drop-shot and C-rig has also been working with any shad-colored plastic. Green pumpkins have also been a good color choice.

The catfish bite has slowed down with the drop in temperatures as of late, but anglers are still having luck targeting them specifically with cut bait or chicken livers.

The bluegill and crappie bite remains tough. The lower lagoon has been the more productive body of water for these species.
