Texas Fish Report

I had to dig this one up since the fishing has slowed down a bit. This was on the billboard at the end of town by the Laughlin Bridge. It's me holding a fish with Allen Cole, who was inducted into the Fishing Hall of Fame for his AC Plug and his outstanding fishing accomplishments. This is one of the larger stripers he landed, weighing in at around 40 pounds. We caught it during a fishing derby with the city a few years ago.

This photo doesn't reflect what's happening with our fishery right now. The bite has definitely slowed, and I'm not even getting reports of the smaller stripers biting. I assume it's just the wrong moon phase. Sometimes that's just how fishing goes.

The good news is we have plenty of fish out there, and it won't be long before the larger stripers move in and start feeding again. Now is a great time to get your gear ready because some fantastic hookups are coming soon.

Anchovies continue to be your best bait, and if you enjoy throwing artificials, a variety of lures can produce some great catches. We also have several swim baits that have been very productive, along with plenty of fresh anchovies for our bait anglers.

Even up on Lake Mohave, the bite has slowed some, so don't worry—you aren't doing anything wrong. It's just one of those slower periods. Before long, the fishing will pick back up, and we'd love to hear about your catch when it does.
