Texas Fish Report

As we officially say goodbye to the winter fishing here at Lake Skinner, we see Spring fishing already well underway. The king of the lake this past week has been the largemouth bass. Fishermen are reporting seeing them all along the shore and many fishermen reported this weekend has been the best bass fishing they have seen in a long time and it is only going to get better. Boat fishing has been the ticket for all of the fish, and that really goes for the bass as you can get to the East End and the South Shore where the bass fishing is the best. Worms and plastics seem to be the best bet right now fished along the bottom. Visible bass are still shying away from bait, but this is not stopping those down a bit deeper. Trout fishing remains good, but almost all of the action is by boat in the East End. Worms seem to be the best ticket. Striper are also still biting with a few fishermen reporting limits, but admitted they had to work for those limits. The striper seem to still like the deep waters along the South Shore, Dam and the Inlet. Anchovies seem to be the best bait this week, but chicken liver is also a good bet. Most of the striper this past week averaged 2-3 pounds. A few more cats and bluegills reported in shallow waters. Give it a week or two and fishing should be great for these spawning fish. Please practice Catch and Release during the spawning season as these big fish reproduce in larger numbers than their smaller counter-parts. Good luck.
