Bass fishing is king here at lake Skinner. While the bass fishing is best by boat, shore anglers are having good luck on the spawning bass as well. The hot spots are the East End and the South Shore. Dark plastic fished slowly along the bottom still seem to be the hot ticket. Just a friendly reminder that it has taken years for the bass fishing to become good again here at Lake Skinner, so please practice catch and release with our bass during this time of the year. Good news comes for striper fishermen as some linesides showed up this past weekend on the move in the East End. While most were small schoolies, their movement is a good sign that the striper are moving away from hanging in the deep water near the dam. Chicken liver was the best bait, but anchovies produced some fish as well. Bluegills are hitting along the South Shore back in the coves and in the Ramp#2 Area for shore fishermen. Cats still somewhat silent, but they should be showing up here before too much longer.
The following are the fish rating:
Bass: Excellent
Bluegill: Good
Catfish: Fair
Striper: Good
Trout: Fair
