The Department of Fish and Game stocked the west ramp with 900 lbs. of catchable sized rainbow trout on Thursday March 3rd. Fishing is still pretty tough at the upper lake, even with all of the trout plants we have been getting. These fish can be found but they still won't bite.
Sometimes the stripers will come up and bite for a couple of hours, but then they are gone. You can try chasing them but they only seem to bite for that small period.
Sardines and nightcrawlers are king of working but the trick is to go deep. The largies are also still pretty deep but they are shallow in some coves and are being caught on a variety of baits. The lower lagoon is still the best place for fishing. Tons of largies have been coming out of the lagoon and the water temp runs 5 to 8 degrees cooler than the upper lake and is constantly being filled up with new water. Nitro nightcrawlers are working great at the lagoon as well as some top water and crank baits.
