The Department of Fish and Game will be stocking the upper lake with rainbow trout the week of April, 17th. The stripers are still biting on one particular spot but more and more anglers are catching them at random all around the lake. Most anglers are fishing for the largies with nightcrawlers and they will occasionally pull up a two to four pound striper. The cut bait bite for the stripers is still not that great. The largies are doing great at both the upper lake and the lower lagoon.
At the upper lake you can still sight fish for most of the cove, but you will need to be using light line for the finicky bass. Nightcrawlers are still the best bait for the largies. At the lower lagoon, you can find the largies all along the shoreline from the fishing pier all the way to the RV campsites. By using the nightcrawlers at the lagoon you can also get the carp and catfish to bite. The pan fish bite is still doing very well and much better in the mid to late evening.
