Texas Fish Report

The water temperatures at Lake Skinner are running between 66 & 70 degrees. There are still some small short boils. There are many baitfish with the majority at the East side. Sabiki rigs are being used for shad with very good results, but remember only 2 hooks.

The Catfish bit is still going. The Kitties are hanging out deep, or by the inlet. Jeffrey Gonzalez (age 10) caught 5 nice cats from 4 to 8 lbs. using anchovies and chicken liver. Luan Pham caught his cats on sardines in the middle of the lake. Neil Aecia caught cats ranging from 2 to 4 lbs. on sardines.

Bluegill are also on the bite. They are 25 to 50 ft. down and the best bait to use are crickets or nightcrawlers. A small number of Stripers are being caught on a slow troll around the lake using swimbaits, sliders or umbrella rigs. The Stripers that are being caught range from 2 to 3 lbs. Largemouth that are being caught are hitting on green pumpkin or purple plastics and rattletraps. A lot of little ones are being seen but so far they have all been catch & release. The next trout plant will be November 23rd.
