Texas Fish Report

The water temperatures at Lake Skinner have been between 62 and 66 degrees. This week they stocked 1,500 lbs. of trout at launch ramp 2. Limits are being caught! Anglers are using floating bait, worms, small lures and rooster tails. Bluegill are still active. We are seeing and catching good numbers of fish deep, deep in the middle of the lake. The best bait for the 'gills are mealworms, crickets and nightcrawlers.

Only a few catfish have been caught recently. The best location for the cats has been near the inlet using mackerel and chicken liver.

The average Largemouth being caught has been between 2 to 3 lbs. A few have been 5 to 6 lbs. near the east bay using plastics and drop shots.

Stripers are starting to go off, great news! They can be found by the south shore coves by ramp 2 and also bottom feeding. They have been biting on the swimbaits, lures, scrounger heads, jerk baits, umbrella rigs, sardines and anchovies. The next trout plant will be on November 23, 2012.
