Fishing for all species seems to be wide open at Castaic Lake. Most Anglers have reported lots of activity across the lake during the weekdays. The weekend bite seems to have slowed a bit due to increased activity of large ski boats, but if you come out in the early morning you can still have around 6 hours of fishing time before it gets too crazy. Largemouth are still biting on nightcrawlers, plastics, crankbaits, and jigs in about 10-20 feet of water. Striped bass have been biting on lug worms, anchovies, sardines, and flukes in about 20-30 feet of water. No signs of Striper boils just yet, but shad are starting to show up in various areas of the lake. Crappie and Bluegill have been biting well off of jigs and mealworms. Hot spots include coash cove and cuttler cove at 25 feet.
