The cats are on the prowl. After several warm days and a week after the last stock, catfish finally have begun to bite for everyone, boat and shore fishermen alike. From boat the cats have been hitting at the dam and inlet off of chicken liver and mackerel. From shore the cats have been biting the best near Ramp #2 off of chicken liver and anchovies. Striper are still biting well, but unlike the catfish, most of the striper fishing continues to be by boat near the dam and inlet. Chicken liver remained king bait for the striper, but fishermen report fish off of anchovies as well. The size and numbers of striper have increased over those reported last week. Bluegill continue to bite as well, but is mostly and afternoon bite fishing bobbers and off the bottom using pieces of worms and meals worms.

These are the following fish reports:

Bass: Fair
Bluegill: Good with an Average size of 1 lbs.
Carp: Fair
Catfish: Excellent with an Average size of 4 lbs.
Crappie: Poor
Striper: Excellent with an Average size of 4 lbs.
Trout: Poor

This past week of fishing has been a large improvement for boat fishermen, but still remains somewhat slow for shore fishermen. Striper picked up their bite along the whole dam and inlet, and a few reported in the East End Channel as well. Chicken liver seems to be the4 best bait right now, but anchovies are still producing. Fishing remained steady this past week, however anglers saw a dip in fish over the weekend. Striper are still biting the best, chicken liver seems to be the hot ticket but anchovies are still catching them as well.
