So while catfish still remain top dogs at Lake Skinner, action from the other fish has picked up nicely from what it was a week ago. Most of the numbers of catfish are coming in from the East End and around the Dam and Inlet. Mackerel seems to be the bait of choice for the cats in the East End, while chicken liver is the best out towards the Inlet. Shore fishing for cats remains ok, with the cats picking up mackerel and chicken liver. Striper action has improved in the morning and evening hours. Best bait for the striper right now is chicken liver. Reports have come in from fishermen who say they are getting some striper off of the top water and rattle traps. Largemouth bass picked up as well with several 4 to 5 pounders being picked up along the South Shore off of dark plastics.

Bass: Fair with an Average size of 3-4 lbs.
Bluegill: Good
Carp: Fair
Catfish: Excellent with an Average size of 4 lbs.
Crappie: Poor
Striper: Good with an Average size of 2 lbs.
Trout: Poor
