Striper boils have begun! Overall, the boils have mainly consisted of smaller-sized fish
under a pound. Some larger sized stripers are being caught below the smaller fish
that are on the surface. Trolling has also been producing well for some anglers as well.
Most catches have been with lead core and flies. The cut bait bite has also been doing
well. Sardines, anchovies, lug worms, and nightcrawlers have been'doing the trick.
The largemouth and smallmouth are biting better these past few days as well. Most
fish have been coming off a good old drop-shot with a plastic finesse worm or
nightcrawler. They too have been boiling, most of the morning until the afternoon
and later in the evening when it cools down a little. The catfish bite has also picked
up with the increasing temperatures. Mackerel, chicken liver, anchovies, and
nightcrawlers all have been working for most anglers. Crappie have been harder to
target but bluegill have been making more of an appearance in recent weeks. The
lower lagoon is better for these species lately. Trout fishing has been slow and there
is always a chance to catch a hold-over.
