Texas Fish Report

This past week was yet another mixed bag of action here at Lake Skinner. Catfish are still on the prowl for those fishermen who are willing to hunt down this wiskerfish. Cats are hitting mostly chicken liver but some action has been reported off of mackerel as well. South Shore and the Dam/Inlet have been the best stop to head for the catfish. Striper fishing slowing is gettig better. Morning bite has been the best, but with the recent time change that may change. Shore action for the striper has improved as well, but is far from a hot bite. Striper are hitting anchovies, shad and chicken liver. Some action has been reported off of swimbaits as well as a few top water plugs, but most of the fish still are only around 2 - 3 pounds so nothing big is coming in nor are limits being reached as of yet. We are hoping for a drastic improvement of fishing when we get our first trout stock. Bass are starting to make a bit more noise as several fishermen going for striper found the bass ready to hit. South Shore and the East End seem to be the best locations for some bass fishing. Worms, both plastic and real, as well as some rooster tails and swimbaits are beiing reported working. We eagerly look forward to our trout season.
