The fishing over the past week has been a little better than the week before. Stripers are coming up and boiling in the marina and government cove during the morning and late evening hours. Shad imitations, Kastmasters and little swim baits are working great for the Stripers and the few Largies in the boils. Shad is king. Anglers netting shad are turning in the best numbers. The Stripers are sometimes boiling in the middle of the fish arm over a depth of 285 ft.
All throughout the fish arm the largemouth are biting plastics like flukes and senkos and they are loving the shad. Fish sizes have been pretty good all week, lots of largies ranging from 2 to 6 pounds.
Catfish are also biting very well around the buoy line off to the left hand side near the cove. The lagoon has been a little slower than usual but still doing pretty good at dusk for all species. Crappies are still biting very well at night and seem to get bigger as the night goes on.
