Texas Fish Report

The biggest story this past week had to be Gary Smith, who landed a 17 pound catfish. Gary caught his limit of Catfish this past Friday, he caught over 80 pounds worth of catfish, 5 of them over 10 pounds each. Catfish have been hitting chicken liver well near the Dam and the Inlet, and as Gary found out they are also hitting along the South shore. Catfish still remain good in the East End, however they seem to be hitting Mackerel more than anything else. The striper bite has picked up this past week as well as boils have been reported all over the lake, but the largest concentration appears to be in the East End. Most of the boils are small and short lived and are producing striper in the 2 pound range, although some fish in the 4 pound range have also been showing up. Top water lures are working in the morning and in the boils as well, but bait wise it has been chicken liver and anchovies. Shore fishing picked up this week as well as fishermen are cashing in on the striper boils in the Marina as they are bait fishing off of Marina Point. Bass and bluegill are still being reported, but not in major numbers of size this past week.
