GREETINGS FROM LAKE CUYAMACA
OUR HOURS HAVE CHANGED. DECEMBER AND JANUARY THE LAKE HAS WATERFOWL HUNTING EVERY WEDNESDAY AND SUNDAY MORNING. THAT MEANS THAT WE ARE CLOSED ALL DAY ON WEDNESDAYS AND DO NOT OPEN FOR FISHING ON SUNDAY UNTIL 10 AM. THE TACKLE SHOP OPENS AT 8 AM ON THE OTHER WEEK DAYS AND AT 6 AM ON SATURDAY.
Trout fishing remains excellent with many limits taken in less than an hour. Crappie fishing is also very good using the little Crappie Jigs which we sell in the tackle shop. There were two ducks taken on opening day.
Best Trout Bait: Nightcrawlers, Power Bait and Power Worms
Best Spots: All over the lake.
Notables:
- - Andy Woener of Santee has been very successful each day that he has been here this week. Limiting out most days and the largest trout taken was 3 pounds.
- Frank Gagliard also limited out at the West Jetty using Chartreuse power bait.
- Tom Gill and Ernie G. from Vista each took a limit of trout using inflated nightcrawlers and chartreuse power bait.
There will be two trout stockings in December. DFG and Mt Lassen will be bringing at least 2000 pounds of trout.
The free fishing class is held every Saturday at the Launch Ramp. Meet Ranger Charlie at 10 AM.
The decontamination wash down is required for all private vessels before launch. Float tubes and waders must also be washed down before using the Lake. There is a fee for the wash down.
